 Backyard Potting Sheds For Inspiration

Tired of winter? Spring is on the way. Take a stroll down a few garden paths with me and marvel at some unique BACKYARD POTTING SHEDS. Everything from recycled wood to recycled tires, each with a unique flavour of its own. Along the way, you may be inspired to improve your own backyard with a garden shed for potting plants. Maybe you don’t have a potting shed but are working toward that goal. Our leisurely walk will help you decide on the style that suits your personality and property best.

We begin in big sky country… Montana.

Rustic Backyard Potting Shed

Kelly takes us on a tour of a rustic backyard potting shed. We start walking down a brick pathway with lush greenery literally on every side. Breathe deep and smell the soil. Ah…! We approach a fence which guides us to an outdoor garden shed blending in perfectly with its surroundings. Brown vines covered with green leaves curl around the shed, acting as a curtain shade from the sun. Stepping inside the shed we see greenery there as well; dozens of leafy plants beckoning us, saying, “Welcome to our garden world.” A fairy garden awaits with everything in miniature, from tiny trees to a fairy-sized arch no human could walk through. The windows are wide open, allowing the fresh breeze to turn the pages of a stash of gardening and potting DIY books. Enjoy your stay. Welcome to Funky Junk Interiors. Our next potting shed is best defined as simply rustic. Donna hails from our neighbor to the north, Canada. She says her passion is creating cool stuff from junk. Excuse the rust… it’s intentional.

Not-So-Fancy Potting Sheds

Welcome to Funky Junk Interiors. Our next potting shed is best defined as simply rustic. Donna hails from our neighbour to the north, Canada. She says her passion is creating cool stuff from junk. Excuse the rust… it’s intentional.

Donna makes use of everything; even a broken garden rake which makes a great tool hanger. Check out her great potting bench made of old sawhorses. There’s even real dirt in this photo shoot. Nothing fancy for sure, but this garden potting shed looks good.

Half Glass Backyard Potting Shed

Our next stop takes us to South Florida and a blogger named Kevin with a green thumb. Kevin has an engaging writing style; it’s easy to tell he enjoys his hobby as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Man. Besides getting a tour of this nicely crafted potting shed you will also enjoy Kevin sharing his gardening knowledge on this blog.

Kevin starts with a useful floor plan, leaving nothing to guesswork. This potting shed is roughly 10’ x 10’ with a small loft used to store pool supplies and pots over the winter. Looking straight in from the unique two-part door, we see a host of gardening supplies; everything you need to keep up with your flowers… and the weeds. To the left is a potting bench and shelves with potting supplies. This area is enclosed in glass, with a lattice floor used to start seeds in the spring. Detailed Shed plans are also provided; all in all, this is a useful site for a person looking for ideas for a potting shed.

Vintage Cottage Potting Shed

Fly with me to New Hampshire, home of Beatrice Euphemize’s sister-in-law Donna. Take the time to read Beatrice’s complete profile to get a good sense of the interesting person she is before we take a short walk through her sister-in-law’s little garden wonder shed. Like all potting sheds, there is no lack of greens on all sides. This shed was once a roadside stand and has been converted into a perfect potting shed.

One of the most amazing things about this picture-perfect setting is that most winters these beautiful grounds are covered with typical New England snow. That usually translates into feet, not inches. However, spring works its magic every year like clockwork, and nature pushes out its carpet of green once again.

 A-Frame Potting Shed

We’ve all heard the expression home is where the heart is… is your heart set on a new potting shed? Our next stop is with water lover Mary (she says her last name is unpronounceable) at her interesting site, Home is where the boat is. Her potting shed, accented with green, is a nicely decorated gem filled with not only plants but a great mixture of knickknacks. Mary changes the theme with each passing season, from July 4th to Christmas. Her motto is, “Keep calm and garden on.”

DIY  Bottle Potting Shed

Next, we have an interesting interlude with a garden shed made of… BOTTLES. The designer of this building is a Frenchman who teamed with landscape architect and artist Francoise Maire. It was presented at an exhibit in France with a collection of 10 sheds required to use minimal materials. Built from planks and bottles, it was built using old building techniques. This particular shed won first prize.

Reclaimed Materials Potting Shed

Kim has made a business of deconstructing old houses, then building new “old” houses. As you can see from this project for Jenny, she does great work. Even though this is not a potting shed per se, but rather a tiny getaway spot for relaxation, I can see getting many ideas for a neat garden shed on this blog. From reclaimed siding with chipping paint to brick salvaged from old houses, this newly built gem looks like it was here forever. Vintage? Certainly.

Tiny Potting Shed

Think small. This little garden shed is more of a tool keeper than a potting shed, but again put your brain in gear and just imagine what you can do with a few doors. Then move on to the next site, which has a potting shed made up of thirty-four repurposed windows and a few doors as well. Feeling stressed? Have a seat and feel the cares of the day roll away in this garden paradise.

Now we move to a DIY potting shed built by someone who obviously knows what he’s doing. Tom Blough calls himself a maker. Browse his website and you’ll see what he means. He built this shed over three weekends, and his wife liked it so well she wanted to take it with them when they moved. Tom used oak from trees on his property. This is truly a wooded wonder.

The men showed up early Tuesday and went right to work. They were polite, friendly and answered any questions I asked. Although my building was on the larger side, 28' by 44' ft. they worked well together and finished in two days! Myself and two contractor friends inspected the building and were all quite pleased with the quality of the building. The men cleaned up the perimeter before leaving and other than a new building you would never know they were there. I am very pleased and would definatly recommend Sheds Unlimited..

Greg Landfried from Leeper , Pa.

Just a note to say I am very pleased with the shed built on site at my home. The crew that came worked fast and professionally.
The shed is beautiful and suits my needs for my Harleys well.

In the future you should tell your sales team to advise customers building motorcycle storage sheds to use 3/4 ply wood on the floor rather than the 5/8 provided.
the weight of a motorcycle on the small area of a kickstand makes the 5/8 ply wood sag, especially when in the middle of two framing studs. I put another layer of 5/8 in my shed and it is solid as a rock.

Thanks again for your efforts

I purchased a 2 car garage from Sheds Unlimited and could not be more pleased. The craftsmanship is excellent, the crew was great. Amazed at how well organized they were and they cleaned up, left nothing behind. I could Not purchase the materials in my area for the price of the project. Thank you so much

Barbara from Bridgheampton, New York

What a terrific shed! It is exactly what we ordered and is very well built. Customer service was wonderful to work with. And then there was the  delivery... Absolutely AMAZING! Imagine getting a 28x14 building up narrow and twisting roads to the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains... I still can't believe the driver and "mule" managed it - but they certainly did. A couple time I closed my eyes thinking our building was a goner, but, nope it was placed perfectly. Afterward I asked the driver about it - he smiled and said only that, "this one was a bit more of a challenge."  Thank you Sheds Unlimited!

They came and built a 28*14 garage in one day. The work was better than I could have ever imagined. The quality of work is top grade. The company send a new crew at 2AM to get to my house at 7 AM in order to do minor finishing touches. That's what I call great customer service. The prices were much better than any of the local shops. Highly recommend them. I will post a video in Youtube called Sheds Unlimited timelapse

Prior to receiving an email from Sheds Unlimited asking if I would like to submit a review, I had already sent them an email stating what a great experience we had in purchasing our shed. My mom moved in with us and I needed the shed ASAP, and Austin was able to fit us in quickly. I ordered the shed over the phone after I saw it online . I spoke to Mark and he was very helpful and got the ordered placed asap, and he followed up with some instructions and such. The shed was delivered by Nate - and this guy makes what is probably a hard job look easy. The unloading, moving , and placement of the shed by Nate was something to watch. This team, and I am sure there are others, are great to work with. And the shed looks beautiful and is well constructed.

Ed W from Wernersville PA

My shed build was a challenge as it was hard to pin down the City's zoning rules. Ben and his crew worked great with us to make sure we adhered to all zoning laws by making changes as we needed to. Ben was right on the money with the build out date and handed things over to Austin. Austin worked around my work schedule and the bad weather we were having in our area as well as theirs. Delivery was right on time and was proficient as could be. We have a thin but long backyard and the driver (I really wish I had his name so he could get the recognition he deserves) had no issue wedging our new shed in with ease. We did have a slight issue with the concrete anchors but the driver assured me it was not an issue and would be taken care of. Austin then had Sergey swing by the very next day on his way to another delivery and knocked them right out for us. I just can't say how pleased I was with the communication and build from the 1st. day of contact until today's finish. Thanks Sheds Unlimited Crew.

Terry Martin from Baltimore, MD

I put in my order and a few weeks later we have our lovely barn delivered in our backyard. The service was beyond excellent, they listened to my needs and specs and give me exactly what I asked for. I could not have gotten a shed of this size and value from third party seller. So, I encourage you to contact them for your next shed.

Thank you again for the wonderful service I received.

Janet Archer from Temple Hills, MD

We are very pleased with the process. The shed is well built. The purchase and delivery was outstanding. Price was competitive as well.

LOVE my shed, so easy to order my custom shed. Great people and thanks so much to the guy that delivered it thru the pouring rain. He did a wonderful job!
